That is, if it will install on the Win98 box. You may be able to get a P2V program to install on the Win98 machine which means you could then take that created virtual machine hard drive and begin running it in a hypervisor or even as a virtual machine in something like VirtualBox. If the PC can't be taken offline, Clonezilla isn't going to work for you.
Disclaimer: I'm going to operate on the assumption that you know Windows 98 is extremely antiquated and insecure and you know what you're doing :-).Ĭan Acronis be installed on the machine or is that having problems? I know it says you can't install anything on Win98 in the original post but is that a procedural restriction or are you not able to/know how to? If I'm not mistaken, I believe Acronis can do what you're asking but I haven't used it before.
